Camp Reel Stories
At Camp Reel Stories young female and non-binary filmmakers, ages 12-18, will work in a safe, professional, and welcoming environment to learn the skills and techniques necessary to create a film, from screenwriting to filming to editing. All participants will come away from the two week camp having worked collaboratively on a finished original film! Visit campreelstories.com for more information
This summer Camp Reel Stories is offering two Beginner "Bootcamp" Filmmaking Programs, one Advanaced Filmmaking Program, and a Filmmaking Institute for our most experienced filmmakers. The camp will take place Monday through Friday in downtown Oakland.
At Reel Stories, young women and non-binary youth discover their voice and express their point of view in a powerful and thoughtful way via film. During the program, the campers will work in groups and learn to create their own film from start to finish with guidance from professionals, including Oscar nominees and winners. Participants will hone their skills in lighting, cinematography, sound, editing, and motion graphics, while learning media literacy, leadership skills, and team building in the process. After two weeks, these young filmmakers will debut their work at a film festival open to family, friends, and community.
Reel Stories believes that when women and non-binary people are better represented behind the scenes in the media, they will be better reflected on the screen. At Camp Reel Stories young women and non-binary youth know that their stories and ideas matter and their audience is waiting.
