Musically Minded Theater Summer Camps

About

Campers work together to develop their own storyline and then put together a full show with acting, music, movement, costumes, props and sets. Each week has a theme and camp ends with performance of the original show!

2020 Summer Camp Themes

Star Wars Theme– June 1-5, 2020

Star Wars Theme has been popular for years. Students create a show based on characters from the Star Wars movies. Sometimes we stage scenes with lines directly from the screenplay. Other times, we just make it up on our own. We inevitably include Darth Vader and always seem to end up with Ewoks, yet technically, the students can be whatever Star Wars character they want. Some kids even make up their own Star Wars like characters. This camp theme is so fun and never seems to get old. We just cannot get enough of Star Wars. May the Force be with you!

Marvels Theme- June 15-19, 2020

Join us for this fun camp where we will create a show with a Marvel Avengers Plot! Campers work together to develop their own storyline and then put together a full show with acting, music, movement, costumes, props and sets. Camp ends with performance of the original show!

Black Panther! We love him so much that we had a whole camp dedicated to him! Then there is Captain Marvel–girl power! Black Widow is getting her own movie! We are mega Marvel’s fans and there are too many great characters to name. In this camp, the kids get to pick which Avenger they want to be and then we make up a story with the characters. Last year we had an original plot where Loki stole the vibranium from Wakanda and Black Panther had to call in the Avengers to help defeat him. Who knows what the story will be this year. So many possibilities!

Quest Theme- July 13-17, 2020

Join us for this fun camp where we will create a Fantasy Show! Campers work together to develop their own storyline and then put together a full show with acting, music, movement, costumes, props and sets. Camp ends with a performance of the original show!

Who does not love a great quest? In this theme students will base their story on the idea of a quest. In the past students have written plots based in magical worlds where one is on a quest for a magical object, they have also written story lines about a journey to receive knowledge and skills.Sometimes we stage scenes with lines directly from the screenplay. This year, the kids will work together to create a new story based on a journey toward some ultimate goal.

Mixed Up Story: July 27-31, 2020

Join us for this fun camp where we will combine storylines from various iconic plots to make one mixed up story. Campers work together to develop their own storyline and then put together a full show with acting, music, movement, costumes, props and sets. Camp ends with a performance of the original show!

Darth Vader meets the Guardians of the Galaxy? Snow White is lost in Little Red Riding Hood’s woods? This theme is always fun as we explore the idea of pulling characters from different iconic stories into one plot. Last summer’s plot had an evil entity, Gorp, wreaking havoc by portaling people from one reality to another. Guardians of the Galaxy got sent to a Star Wars Planet and had to work with Leia, an Ewok and even Darth Vader to set things right again. What will the kids come up with this year?
