Windy Hill Equestrian Summer Horsemanship Camp

Camps are progressive with 3 sessions for beginners, intermediate 1, intermediate 2, and finishing up with advanced camp. In our beginner sessions riders are learning their positions in the walk and two point, how to control the horse with correct aids, and they are introduced to the trot and how to post. Intermediate 1 continues to build upon the skills from the beginner camps. We do more trot work and poles, and if a rider is ready we introduce the canter. Intermediate 2 again builds from the skills from the previous sessions, we do more canter work and poles, and introduce jumping cross rails. Advanced camp focuses more on poles and jumps and course course work. Additionally in each session the campers learn horse anatomy and psychology, stable management, all about tack and equipment, how to groom and tack up, and so much more. In our intermediate  2 camp we have a vet that comes to do a talk and answer questions for our campers, and in advanced camp we go on a field trip to watch the Menlo Charity Horse Show. Sessions 1-4 are 4 day camps and sessions 5 and 6 are 8 day camps. We meet Tuesdays through Fridays from 1:00 to 5:00 and we finish each session with a horse show for campers' family and friends to watch.
