About the Best Early Education and Preschool Programs Awards
The Best of Parents Press Readers Choice Awards were created to give Bay Area families a powerful voice in recognizing the most exceptional programs for children. The awards highlight providers that excel in academic quality, nurturing care, cultural diversity, and innovative teaching methods.
Our two-round voting process ensures fairness and community involvement:
- Round One (March – Early April): Parents submit open write-in nominations for their favorite early education programs, preschools, and childcare providers across the Peninsula and Silicon Valley.
- Round Two (April – May): The top nominees are listed for final voting. At this stage, voters select their favorites from the official ballot. Write-in nominations are closed.
The final results are published in the August issue of Parents Press, providing families with trusted recommendations just in time for the upcoming school year.
Frequently Asked Questions – Early Education & Preschool Programs
What makes a preschool one of the “best” on the Peninsula and in Silicon Valley?
Winning programs are chosen by local families for their exceptional curriculum, highly trained staff, safe and nurturing environments, and strong reputations. They may also offer unique features such as bilingual immersion, Montessori-based education, or faith-based values.
How do I choose between a bilingual, Montessori, or faith-based preschool?
It depends on your child’s needs and your family’s values. Bilingual preschools offer early language immersion, Montessori schools encourage independence through self-directed learning, and faith-based preschools integrate spiritual teachings with academics and play.
When should I start looking for a preschool in the Peninsula/Silicon Valley area?
Most parents begin researching and touring schools at least 6–12 months before they plan to enroll their child. Popular programs often have waitlists, so starting early increases your chances of securing a spot.
Are there part-time preschool programs available?
Yes. Many schools offer flexible schedules, including part-time mornings, two-to-three-day options, or extended care for working parents.
What age should my child be to start preschool?
While requirements vary, most preschools accept children between ages 2 and 5. Some programs also offer early education classes for toddlers as young as 18 months.
Do these award-winning preschools accept children with special needs?
Many top-rated preschools provide inclusive classrooms or specialized support for children with developmental differences. It’s best to discuss your child’s needs directly with the school during your tour.
How do I nominate my favorite preschool for next year’s awards?
Parents Press opens nominations each spring. Keep an eye on our announcements and website to submit your favorite early education program for consideration.
