Opera San José’s Singers’ Academy is a one-week summer program designed for teen singers ages 13–18 who are ready to explore their voices, build confidence, and grow as performers. Open to all experience levels, the Academy welcomes students who simply love to sing as well as those aspiring to professional performance careers or creative paths in music.
Held from Monday, July 6 through Saturday, July 11, 2026, the program runs Monday–Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Throughout the week, students engage in a rich combination of individualized coaching and collaborative group work led by Opera San José teaching artists.
Participants receive private voice lessons tailored to their individual needs, along with training in vocal technique and musicianship. The curriculum also includes scene study and storytelling through music, movement and staging work, and audition preparation, including how to create a polished self-tape. Students collaborate on one to two group performance pieces and conclude the week with a final recital showcasing their growth and achievements.
To support preparation, all students receive their assigned music one month in advance, including accompaniment tracks. Optional private coaching sessions are available prior to the program for students seeking additional support.
Tuition for the full week is $875, with scholarships available for qualifying students. The Singers’ Academy provides a supportive, inspiring environment where young artists can strengthen their skills, build confidence, and connect through music-making.
