Hilldale School is where students are encouraged to Rise to the Challenge! We are able to meet the needs of bright, gifted and above average children by offering an accelerated, truly differentiated curriculum that is personalized to each student while still providing a traditional classroom structure. We dedicate ourselves to the full development of the individual student by promoting habits of intellectual curiosity, appreciation for the arts, independent thinking, physical fitness, imagination, and respect for self and others. Throughout their time at Hilldale they will learn to recognize and respect the gifts and challenges of others, develop empathy, and show compassion for others through the ideal that “fair is not equal.” Our goal is for students to leave Hilldale strong in character, well prepared for further education, determined to fully develop their own gifts, and ready to share those gifts generously with the wider community.
We help students grow through social-emotional learning, and by teaching them to live by the Hilldale Habits: Respect, Leadership, and Independent, Lifelong learning. Due to our small class sizes and low student-to-teacher ratio, we are truly able to know every student at the school, which creates a family-like community that helps students grow both intellectually and as people.
In addition, we have a very strong family community. Our Family Association provides support to the families and teachers through fun events and activities, extra field trips, and extra goodies throughout the year. All of our families are very down-to- earth, caring, and committed to education, and create a very rich and nurturing community.
We pride ourselves on having a diverse group of families, socio-economically, structurally, and culturally. We love to embrace all kinds of cultures and family structures, and while we are a secular school, we love to learn about everyone’s religions and traditions.
