CELEBRATING 70 YEARS
Academic curriculum in a relaxed family environment.
Founded in 1949, Hillwood focuses on the individual child to help him or her flourish academically and socially through small classroom sizes and tested academic curriculum.
Our program includes music, art, and recess at the neighborhood park. The integrated curriculum emphasizes math skills, English and language arts, as well as science, history/social studies.
Hillwood prides itself on developing a lasting relationship with its diverse group of students. Through classroom activities and regular excursions to some of San Francisco’s wonderful cultural offerings, from plays and musical events to science-focused field trips, the school’s staff consistently shows students that learning can happen anywhere – and it can be fun.
Whether students go on to high school at Lowell, Gateway, Saint Ignatius, or Sacred Heart, we expect to see them back at Hillwood. Former students regularly return to the classroom to help mentor and prepare upper-level students for life after Hillwood. Our small size allows students to build strong, lasting bonds.
We are open until 5 pm daily. After school care is included at no charge. There is soccer and piano lessons available. Study hall Monday – Friday after 3 pm. Homemade hot lunches daily. French and 8th grade algebra taught. Students typically test a year or more advanced.
